Businesses can’t afford a beverage tax

The proposal at the Statehouse to raise taxes on everyday beverages at stores and restaurants would be devastating for small businesses near the state line. Experience in other states shows that people will drive across the state line to avoid the tax. They’ll buy untaxed, less expensive beverages there and take their entire grocery cart with them.
